ANNUAL DR. MLK, JR. HOLIDAY SCHOLARSHIP

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders, Innovators & Peacebuilders

The California Minority Chamber of Commerce (CMCC) is proud to launch the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Program, a new initiative designed to support California students who exemplify leadership, community service, conflict-resolution skills, and a commitment to social and economic justice.


This scholarship honors Dr. King’s legacy by investing in young people who are making a difference in their communities—and who will help shape the future of California’s business, civic, and professional landscape.

🎓 About the Scholarship

The CMCC Dr. MLK Jr. Scholarship Program provides financial assistance, leadership development, and mentorship opportunities to outstanding students pursuing higher education. The program supports careers in:

  • Business & entrepreneurship  
  • Law & conflict resolution  
  • Public service & civic engagement  
  • Social justice advocacy  
  • Community leadership  

Award recipients will also be recognized at the CMCC Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership & Conflict Resolution Dinner on January 18, 2027.

✨ Who Is Eligible?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a high school senior, community college student, or undergraduate attending school in California  
  • Demonstrate leadership, community service, and alignment with Dr. King’s values  
  • Show interest in entrepreneurship, conflict resolution, public service, or social justice  
  • Submit a complete application package (details below)  

📄 Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • Completed CMCC Scholarship Application Form  
  • Personal essay (500–750 words)  
  • Transcript or GPA report  
  • Three recommendation letters  
  • Optional 2-minute video introduction  

💰 Award Levels

CMCC will award multiple scholarships, including:

  • $5,000 — MLK Leadership Scholar (Top Award) 
  • $2,500 — MLK Achievement Scholars 
  • $1,000 — MLK Community Impact Scholars 

📅 Important Dates

  • Applications Open: November 2026  
  • Deadline: Early January 2027  
  • Winners Announced: January 18, 2027 at the MLK Gala
